“I feel like I’m never quite good enough,” says a senior staffer I know. “I’m constantly being judged on every little thing; I’m terrified I’m going to be seen fouling something up.” Many leaders put pressure (expecting perfection) on their people item by item, day by day. Noone can perform to those standards.

Question:

What more will you experience from your key people when they know you judge their performance based on results not activities…monthly rather than daily or hourly? What might they accomplish when they feel free to take chances without fear of immediate second-guessing? What will it take for you to loosen up a bit?
