I had a fun couple of days last week working with a leadership team using the Six Thinking Hats approach. (I haven’t used DeBono’s tool for years and forgot how good it is at surfacing the good, the bad and the possible.) It’s especially effective at helping us think about the risks, the dangers and the faults in our plan without getting emotional about them. Defensiveness and explanation are not permitted when wearing the black hat.


Specifically, how do you get your team to look at the future? How do you together analyze information, deal with feelings, dispassionately see risks and downsides, keep hopeful and get creative? Do you take all of these notions seriously? Watch out…there are others in your field who do!
