People don’t want to hear a story remembered, they want to experience a story relived. Stories work when people (employees, partners, clients) feel part of the action, part of the tension, part of the resolution. Effective leaders have mastered this skill.
Do you live your stories outloud? Do you re-enter the situation and walk with others through the experience? Do they see what you see, hear what you hear, feel what you feel? Okay. Now, what will you be thinking about next time you use a story?
