Golf is a great metaphor. When things go right, it’s a great game! When things go badly, well… I’ve watched myself and others try all kinds of mid-game corrections – strengthen your grip, change the ball position, stand more upright, etc. The secret however, isn’t to find a quick remedy for the problem, the secret is to go back to the basics. You’re likely just doing one thing wrong!

Question:

In your organization, what happens when something is not working: do you look for a quick-fix or do you remind yourself of what has worked before and assess what you might have forgotten? Does your attitude change if you start with re-examining the basics? What does that do for your results?
