It’s not fun to think about; leaders usually hate to admit their group does anything less than perfect. Why does that have to be troubling? Sometimes that’s exactly what you promised and exactly what the customer expected! There are times when “good enough” is good enough; 7.5 out of 10 may be completely acceptable when you meet the client’s needs and achieve your targeted margin.

Question:

Specifically, what will you do this week to help your people determine when a specific project is a “good enough” project? What permissions does that give them? On the flip side, when a project demands special attention, how will you assure team members they have the tools, the time and the budget to achieve 9.0+?
