During a Board Retreat I facilitated over the weekend, talk moved to Simon Sinek’s notion of starting with the “why” of what we do. “Why” isn’t merely vision or mission or purpose or values, “why” is the very essence of what we want to accomplish. “Why” is what gets our juices flowing…. not “how” and not “what.”


Can you articulate your “why” clearly….to yourself and to others? Can your team members articulate theirs’? Are there palpable synergies between their “whys” and your’s? When did you last revisit and re-state your “why?” Why not now?
